Do you feel like your mind won’t stop racing — no matter how hard you try to relax?
You may be constantly thinking ahead, worrying about things that haven’t happened yet, and feeling as if something bad is just around the corner. Even when everything seems fine on the outside, inside you might feel restless, on edge, or quietly overwhelmed.
This ongoing sense of worry could be a sign of Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) — and if so, you’re not alone. At Eleos Counselling, we support people from Warnham and surrounding areas who are tired of feeling anxious all the time and want something to change.
What anxiety can feel like
Everyone worries now and then — but GAD is different. It’s a feeling that never really fades. You might wake up already tense or find yourself stuck in spirals of “what ifs.” Small decisions can feel huge. Even things you normally enjoy might seem exhausting or stressful.
Common signs of generalised anxiety include:
-
Constant overthinking or second-guessing
-
Trouble falling or staying asleep
-
Feeling physically tense or uptight
-
Struggling to relax, even in safe situations
-
Difficulty focusing or making decisions
-
Feeling drained by the end of each day
You may have tried to push through it, stay strong, or keep it hidden. But over time, anxiety can take a toll on your health, relationships, and sense of self-worth.
You don’t have to manage this on your own
If you’re living with anxiety, it can be hard to ask for help. You might feel like others don’t understand — or that your worries aren’t “bad enough” to deserve support. But anxiety is real. And it deserves attention, care, and healing.
At Eleos Counselling, we offer a calm, confidential space near Warnham RH12 where you can speak freely and feel truly heard. Therapy can help you make sense of what’s happening inside and learn new ways to respond to anxiety with more ease and confidence.
How therapy for anxiety can help
When anxiety dominates your daily life, it can feel like you’ve lost touch with your inner calm. Therapy helps you reconnect. It gives you space to pause, reflect, and understand the deeper roots of your worry — without judgement or pressure.
At Eleos, we won’t ask you to “fix” yourself. Instead, we’ll work alongside you, at your pace, to:
-
Understand what fuels your anxiety
-
Identify thought patterns that keep you feeling stuck
-
Explore your emotional responses and where they come from
-
Learn tools to manage anxious thoughts and soothe your nervous system
-
Rebuild confidence and inner trust
You’ll be supported every step of the way.
A more compassionate way forward
Anxiety can leave you feeling like you’re failing — at work, in relationships, or simply at life. You might blame yourself for not coping “better” or wonder why you feel so on edge when others seem fine.
That’s why we focus on self-compassion in our work together. Inspired by the research of Dr Kristin Neff and Dr Paul Gilbert, our approach encourages you to treat yourself with the same understanding you’d offer a friend in distress.
When you learn to respond to anxiety with kindness instead of criticism, real change becomes possible.
What to expect from therapy at Eleos Counselling
Our sessions are tailored to your needs. There’s no script — just time, space, and attention devoted to you.
You might begin by simply describing how anxiety shows up in your life. From there, we’ll gently explore what lies beneath those feelings and develop ways to help you feel safer and more grounded in your daily life.
Over time, therapy can help you:
-
Reduce the intensity of your anxiety
-
Sleep better and feel more rested
-
Navigate stressful situations with more clarity
-
Restore your sense of agency and emotional balance
-
Feel less alone with what you’re experiencing
You don’t have to be “ready” or have the perfect words. Just bring yourself — we’ll meet you there.

“I started drinking because I was anxious all the time.”
– Emma, 25
I never used to think I had a problem. I’d tell myself, “It’s just a glass of wine to take the edge off.” But over time, one glass became three, and then a bottle. I didn’t even enjoy drinking – I just didn’t know how else to calm my thoughts. My anxiety felt like it was swallowing me whole, and alcohol was the only thing that made it stop, even for a little while.
It wasn’t until I found myself cancelling plans, hiding bottles, and waking up feeling ashamed that I realised something had to change. I felt stuck in a cycle that I didn’t know how to break. That’s when I reached out for help.
Therapy gave me a space to be honest – not just with someone else, but with myself. I learned how much of my drinking was rooted in fear, self-doubt, and the pressure to seem like I had it all together. My therapist didn’t judge me. Instead, she helped me see my anxiety differently – not as something broken in me, but as a part of me that needed compassion.
Now, I still have anxious days, but I no longer run from them. I’ve found healthier ways to cope, and for the first time in years, I feel hopeful. Asking for support was the hardest part, but also the most important thing I’ve ever done.
